GMB is now GBP
Not to be mistaken as British currency… Previously known as Google My Business (GMB), Google Business Profile (GBP) is a free tool businesses can add information such as contact details, opening hours and images to appear on Google search and maps. Handy right?
What the GBP?
Unsure about what a Google Business Profile is or where to find it? Say you’re searching for a local coffee shop via Google search, the results returned will be based on the geolocation using the IP address of your device and look something like this:

The Basics - Contact, Location & Hours
Ensure your profile is up to date. Incorrect addresses, contact numbers or opening hours are most frustrating for a customer attempting to find or contact your business.
Add keywords to your description
Target the information in your GBP description by incorporating relevant keywords for SEO. This signals to Google what you’re trying to rank for. Just be mindful to add keywords naturally, stuffing keywords into your description will do more harm than good!
Reply and ask for reviews
Responding to reviews is a great way to connect with customers and demonstrate your business is proactively engaging. This builds trust in your business with new and returning customers. Asking for a review can be daunting, but remember; don’t ask, don’t get! There’s even a handy share link right on the SERPs screen:
Add photos
A picture speaks a thousand words and can heavily influence a customer when they are presented with a choice. If you have a shopfront, be sure to upload photos of the exterior and interior to assist customers with finding you.
Q&A
Ever feel like you're repeating yourself by answering the same questions? The Q&A feature allows businesses to post answers to frequently asked questions. Assist your customers in making informed decisions before they even call you by answering the questions you get asked the most.
Add an update
Much like Facebook and other social media platforms, Google Business Profile has a post feature allowing you to add an update, offer or event:
