3D Printed Self-Sufficient Home
A 3D-printed home isn't a new concept, however, a self-sufficient one caught my eye. This totally carbon-neutral and off-grid home is designed to be completely self-sufficient when it comes to providing food, water and heat. Currently, the built environment is responsible for 39% of energy-related carbon emissions across the globe, with 28% of that constituting operational costs, and the remaining 11% from construction.
Sustainable Packaging Innovations
There's certainly a theme in innovation, wrapped around sustainability. The packaging industry, with Covid-19 stay-at-home influx brought packaging solutions to every household; and with it - came a raft of new solutions. Some of the most interesting include:
- takeaway packaging on a subscription model from restaurants for refillable food orders;
- French wine in recycled plastic bottles (a vineyard now owned by LVMH);
- a refillable toothpaste dispenser (after you've switched to a bamboo toothbrush first, of course)
Furniture for Sneakerheads
It's not my thing, but it's someone's thing - sneakers. And it's big business. Big enough to need its own furniture.
- How about a coffee table box, branded with Nike?
- Or a set of drawers?
- Or a Jordan-themed storage box with a glass shelf

Carlton Draught's BIG Beer ad
It's a harsh reality to identify my age by how old ads are. My entire life is one big advertisement - I think in jingles and taglines and I can see product shots and brand colours in my every-day movements... and then I'm reminded that one of the best ads (after the RAM Farmer Ad of course, miles ahead of Yellowstone) is for beer - Carlton Draught's Big Beer Ad.
You can't help but love Carl Orff's 1935 dramatic classic, O Fortuna, coupled with the looks on the faces of the talent, and of course, the funniest 'lyrics' for an ad. It's 17 years old... and it's still bloody fantastic.
Belvedere, Starring Daniel Craig
I'm not really a Daniel Craig fan, except, after seeing this latest number with Belvedere, there's potential to become one. What a fun clip and who can go by a Director's Cut...
Catch you when the clock says 2023 😃
