Acknowledgement of Country

Banter Group acknowledges the Gundungurra people as the Traditional Owners of the land on which our agency stands, and extend this
respect to all First Nations peoples, including
Elders past, present and emerging.

Real Holidays

Probably the most rewarding part of running Banter Group is offering flexibility to all.

I don’t just mean school holidays, or an early finish.

Mel, our prized web developer has taken off on a glorious 1 month road trip 🚙 with her family through the outback, up to far north Queensland 🌴 and is now coming back down the coast.

Ardleigh our Administrator who’s only been with us a short few months is seizing a few weeks in 🌅 Bali with her young family.

I love that my team know how to turn off. Refresh. Relax. Build mental resilience. It doesn’t negatively affect the business to work like this. With a little planning and understanding, anything is possible. Our clients are supported, without impact. Happy days indeed. 🎊

LinkedIn Pages Have New Custom Buttons and Analytics

After the release of updated company pages in 2018, LinkedIn is rolling out quarterly changes for Pages to help businesses create and maintain the most useful conversations with their audiences. To build on the standard ‘Follow’ button on a LinkedIn Company Page, we now have a chance to customise an additional button as well. Options include:

  • Contact us
  • Learn more
  • Register
  • Visit website.

To add to this, the new analytics dashboard can show you how many people clicked through from these buttons, providing deeper analysis for you to understand your audience’s needs.

Need a little help getting this sorted? This blog and video will give you the guiding hand you’re after.

Should You Keep Old Content?

Maintaining a content strategy can be truly rewarding. Punching out blog posts with all your might, downloading all your goodness into articles to help your customers, uploading to your website to keep the content current and meeting the needs of search algorithms. But what should you do with all those blog posts that are becoming dated? Should you keep them all?

Content has a place, and quality over quantity is well known. You basically have three options: Update, delete or merge.

This 3-minute read will help you determine which option is the best for you and your content. I’m a huge fan of updating and merging. I find hitting the ‘delete’ button quite a difficult thing to do, even though I know I must!

It’s Time To Stop Undervaluing Social Media Managers

It’s not often that I bypass an opportunity for my own blog. I try to share something useful and valuable for businesses. This month, I’m sharing a blog from Quiip, a community management company that I’ve had a long relationship with, which was published on Mumbrella last week.

Recent conversations have led me to share this post. Social Media is here to stay, but the format in which it’s functional and useful is changing for businesses, often. If you don’t know your social purpose, it’s easy to undervalue what it actually delivers for your organisation. In turn, that undervalues what your human social interaction and engagement might need to look like.

Sure there are lots of tools that create ‘pretty’ social posts. But there is a skillset. Graphic Design. Human Social Skills. Design Composition. Photography. Algorithms. Media Buying. Conversion Rate Optimisation. Campaign Budgeting. Funnels. ROI.

✔️ You get what you pay for.
✔️ Cheap isn’t always good.
✔️ Good isn’t always cheap.

From one industry veteran to another, thank you Quiip, for writing the words that have been spinning in my head for years.

Station St Dental and The Railway Rooms

When Teresa and Craig from Bowral Dental 🦷 came to us with a vision for their new business, we were excited to help out. After moving into the heritage-listed Station Master’s Cottage on Station St, they needed a whole new brand and website.

Our challenge included two brands. Firstly, the branding of the building, now known as The Railway Rooms. The iconic building needed a modern, recognisable brand, which is a destination. We then created the brand for the dental practice, Station St Dental, being the primary resident at The Railway Rooms. The brands needed to be easily recognisable and withstand signage challenges.

It didn’t stop there. Our collaborative approach with Spartan Creative meant working on roadside signage materials. New business collateral included ‘with compliments’ slips, letterhead and business cards for each business. To finish it off, we also developed a brand new website.

Highland teamwork. Happy days. 👏

Recent chats and upcoming stuff

Keynote for Stone Real Estate
Next month I have the most enviable task of being a keynote speaker for the Stone Real Estate Leadership Conference on 🏝️ Hamilton Island. My keynote will be focused on promoting real estate agencies and agents in our modern marketing landscape. I’ll be sharing my practical tactics that everyone can use, including resourcing, budgeting, planning and implementation; across a multitude of channels.

Good news though, you don’t have to attend this conference to gain my insights, because I offer the same service as 1:1 coaching, mentoring and training. If you’re looking for 1:1 help, or a keynote speaker for your next event, I’d love to have a chat with you to see how I can help.

Norwegian Island Wants to Erase The Concept Of Time

I initially thought this headline was just link-bait, but actually, what an awesome idea. You see in Norway, the home of A-ha, on the island of Sommaroy, the sun doesn’t rise in winter or set in summer. It’s left residents arguing that normal business hours shouldn’t apply to them because they don’t experience time like the majority of the rest of the world. Fair call too. It’s all about flexibility.

If you want to cut the lawn 🚜 at 4am, go for it.

Kids playing ⚽ soccer at 2am? Why not!

Midnight 🏊‍♂️ swim? Sure

Why follow the ‘norm’ just because it’s always been like that?

If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always have what you’ve always had.

Until next time 😊
