It’s called doing things.
“Without strategy, execution is aimless.
Without execution, strategy is useless.”
Strategy is one of those funny love it or hate it words. If you have a strategic plan, you’ll love it. If you don’t know where to start, you’ll hate it.
Whether that’s a marketing strategy or a business strategy, you need a plan. Strategy doesn’t have to be difficult, nor does it have to be expensive, but it has to exist.
The most successful clients we work with, are ones that have a strategic plan.
Need help with that? No worries, that’s what we do. We start with taking a step back and making sure there’s a strategy that makes sense, is SMART and is affordable.

The Newsfeed Might Be Going Away
Is the Facebook Newsfeed going away? Most likely.
What we might see is a combination of both regular feed posts in their original format, interspersed with vertical Stories. (And, possibly unskippable ads.)
Navigation will be horizontal, tap and swipe. Nothing would be vertical anymore.
A test of this format was spotted by Jane Wong and you can see what it looks like in this video.
Users and businesses would carry on creating content as we do today and the new feed will automatically format in the horizontal carousel.
If users won’t scroll down anymore, Facebook’s ad business could take a huge hit.
So, by allowing traditional feed posts and ads to appear among Stories in the same carousel, users are more likely to swipe through. And, Facebook could squeeze more views and ad dollars out of that content.
They’re just some of the changes you can expect, and my prediction? Before the end of 2019.
Facebook Demotes Videos With Engagement Bait
Facebook first tried to squash five types of engagement bait in December 2017. (Those five types are Vote Baiting, React Baiting, Share Baiting, Tag Baiting and Comment Baiting. In simple terms, possible ‘bad actors’ that attempt to goad Facebook users into taking certain actions as a means of manipulation.)
We’ve now got a 2019 update:
Videos containing WRITTEN or SPOKEN engagement bait phrases such as “Comment below,” “Share this video,” “Tag 2 friends,” or any direct call-to-action tied to liking, commenting or sharing would get demoted in the feeds.
Bottom line, Facebook is striving for AUTHENTIC content and AUTHENTIC engagement. Make it real. Make it count.
Why Chasing Large Numbers of Social Followers Might Be Totally Useless
More than 2 million companies advertise on Instagram every month, and this social media giant isn’t even the biggest player in the industry. Countless businesses spend billions of dollars running intricate social media campaigns. Some of them are designed to create brand awareness while others are meant to create new leads and bring in new customers.
The truth is that social media has the potential to become one of your most powerful business tools. But, simply racking up millions of followers is not a recipe for success.
On the blog, we look at the key reasons why chasing large numbers of ‘vanity metrics’ are really a waste of time, which is evidenced even further with Insta announcing the trial of ‘removing the like counts’ on posts and also on profile fan followers. Hoorah for mental health and strategies that matter!

Toyota’s Subscription Model
Toyota has designed a subscription program for owners who wish to access great vehicles, but desire to get away from the conventional car ownership model.
Toyota Japan is releasing a car subscription package called Kinto. Kinto has several packages that allow you use of a car or a variety of vehicles like Lexus.
Subscription plans are based on a monthly flat rate and cover insurance, vehicle tax, rego, and maintenance. What’s different about this program is that the subscriber will be rewarded with points for operating the vehicle safely and in an eco-friendly way.
If this idea works in Japan, it’s only a matter of time before it’s rolled out globally.
Until next time 😊
