The whole is greater than the sum of its parts
I’m in a cafe in Kensington, Sydney, working. I’m unfortunately hearing the distress of an employee talking to her manager. Arms crossed, head tilted away. “I’m going to say this in the nicest possible way. That behaviour is just not acceptable. I know that he’s saying he’s in the right…”.
Workplace bullying. Ignored feelings. Unresolved situation. Resignation threat.
I know it happens everywhere. Except it doesn’t. The whole of Banter is greater than the sum of its parts. We work hard not to have this happen. The inaction from this manager I’ve witnessed will be the great undoing. Thanks for being a family Banter Group. 💖 #doingitdifferently

Instagram Stories go boom
Our attention span to consume information is waning, and Instagram knows it. Stories are here to stay, and their popularity sees a new behaviour: some users are starting to drop the Insta feed altogether and relying on Stories only for their Insta-fix.
Rather than just posting at random intervals, Stories should form part of your strategy. Start by creating Story Highlight Covers, which identify the different Story types you have and customised Covers will help you stand out. By adding to your Stories throughout the day, rather than all at once at the end of the day, you’ll be bumping your Story to the front of the queue – which will increase your exposure and your engagement.
YouTube is for small business too
Many small businesses don’t think that YouTube is a social channel, but that’s exactly what it is. As the second largest search engine available (and yep, it’s owned by Google), YouTube is the go-to destination for how-to-do-anything.
Many small businesses can benefit from the channel by creating how-to videos, on how to achieve pretty much anything, including how to open a box.
This blog is a simple to follow, step by step instruction guide if you’re willing to take on the Tube, and with 1.3 billion people using the channel, it’s sure to get you attention, followers and engagement.
What’s a Marketing Funnel?
Not all your customers are the same. In fact, they aren’t even at the same stage of their relationship with you. There are some not-yet-customers who perhaps haven’t even heard of you yet, and others that have heard of you, but they’re weighing you up against your competitor.
The content you put out there for these different people makes a big difference to THEM, depending on where they are in that relationship with you.
On the blog, we outline the various stages these customers have, and the type of content you need in your marketing to move them through stage to stage (the marketing funnel).

Recent chats and upcoming stuff
Bye Bye Kate: It’s been an emotional month as we said goodbye to Kate, one of our 🦸♀️ creatives, as she embarks on her exciting first-time-mother journey. We’ve loved watching her 🤰grow and her face glow. Now the waiting game starts until baby news arrives.
Hello ‘allo Tess: You’ll soon be meeting Tess Ellis, our latest crew member, who’s taken over from Kate. Tess’s creative skillz and social experience will keep Banter on the edge of our creativity, and also boosts our team (as we’re expecting Kate to return, but you know, motherhood).
I need your help: Please help with 3 mins of your time 🕒 to complete this short survey on local attitudes and feelings. There are 2 x $100 gift vouchers to be won to give you a little push.
From real estate to pharmaceutical: November started with fun and games as I was a judge for the realestate.com.au AREA Awards of Excellence, celebrating 21 best-in-class winners across numerous categories followed by a Digital Live webinar for agents to improve their social media Ads Manager capabilities. Next week I finish off the month with a content strategy workshop for Janssen, pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson, addressing the content needs for Haematology, Immunology, Oncology and Neuroscience. It’s the variety of Banter Group that I love so much!
I’ll have the Big Pac please
I’m not sure if you’ll find this funny, annoying or pathetic, but it’s definitely cool. A Brisbane-based burger joint has found itself in a little hot water after naming their Alpaca burger 🍔(yes that’s right, Alpaca!) the Big Pac… and guess who has a problem with that? McDonald’s have issued the brothers a Cease & Desist as they are claiming it leverages the iconic brand. Perhaps it was the description that went with the launch, two all alpaca patties, sauce, cheese, pickles, lettuce, onion, on a sesame bun’.
I’m fairly certainly Maccas won’t have much confusion created with their restaurants though, as it’s a single burger restaurant in Brisbane compared to the global behemoth. I anticipate it’ll back down, just like Hungry Jack’s did with the Wambi Whopper on the Central Coast of NSW in 2013.
Until next time 😊
