The countdown is real, just 13 weeks to go until the Christmas break.
As most websites take 8-10 weeks to build (if you’re still getting your content together), it’s time to get a wriggle on if you’re planning on having a website built before Xmas.

For the rest of us who have a site already, that’s 13 weeks to capitalise on sales 💳 before the big summer ☀️ break. That’s social selling, email campaigns planned, landing pages created and Google Ads competing for attention.

We’re busy in our final 13 weeks setting up our clients for success across retail 🛍️, property development 🏘️, hospitality 🍔 and healthcare 👩🏻‍⚕️. If you’re up for some shopping, start with Sally Wilson Art, a local Aussie creating gorgeous paintings 🖌️, ceramics and jewellery.

FREE Image Resizing Tool For Social Media

One of the biggest social media struggles is creating assets for each platform, when every platform has different specifications. Pain in the butt, right? 😓

Thank me later.

Here’s the most awesome tool ever which is a drag and drop image resizer. Yep, drop an image in the top header and voila, you have it resized for every platform and asset spec you could ask for.

Gamer Changer 🎉. We know ✋. You’re welcome 🥂.

Facebook Testing 3 New Features

Here they come, thick and fast. Facebook’s new raft of ‘testing’ which generally leads to ‘new releases’, so watch this space:

1. Removing Likes
It was only a matter of time. Insta was the testing ground. We recovered. Ego-driven youth switched to business accounts so they can keep track of their vanity metrics. I get it. Expect this one before the end of the year. #socialmediaprediction

2. In-app Checkout for Facebook Ads
If you’re using dynamic ads in the News Feed, this is for you. The test is a new checkout feature, making it possible for users to discover a product from a dynamic ad and purchase the product from the ad without ever leaving the Facebook app. This has been trialled years ago, problem was FB didn’t know how to monetise something that wasn’t yet ‘trusted’ (ie buying via social networks). Be mindful though, they have to make their 💲 somewhere, so expect a clip of the ticket on top of your advertising cost. It’s already available in Insta. If it’s not a clip of the ticket, you’ll simply see the cost of advertising increase on the platform. Bypassing websites? Yep.

3. Turning Organic Shopping Ads Into Instagram Ads
If you’re seeing success with your organic posts in Insta, the trial is looking at turning those posts into Ads via Ads Manager. Creating a seamless experience for the advertiser is making it one step easier to get you to put 💰in Ads and expand your reach. Simples. Some brands have this access already as part of the trial. I suspect if the money keeps rolling in, Facebook will keep rolling out the changes.

5 Tips For Creating Website Content

Websites aren’t “set and forget”. Once your site is live you’ll need to spend time creating new content. Why? Because Google expects you to. Updating content ensures Google returns to your site, re-indexes the new content and displays that content in the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). Unfortunately, a website that never changes is the equivalent of a box of beautifully designed brochures sitting in a box on the floor of your office.

Part 2 of our series “I built my website, why aren’t I on Page 1 of Google?” gives you 5 tips for creating website content. It might not be as hard as you think, but if you’re not a writer, the good news is that we are!

Australian Hotel & Brewery

Australian Hotel & Brewery is the community pub of the Hills. It’s where mateship is celebrated, craft beer is enjoyed, and friendly service is provided. Home to the Australian Brewery local beer, serving award-winning, hand-crafted brews onsite, matched with locally sourced pub classics.

Banter was delighted to be asked to pitch for the social media management for the venue. As Val is an ex-Hills District local, the opportunity to work with a venue that she intrinsically understands and frequented through her years, was emotive.

Since our appointment in July 2019, our engagement has included:
✅ creation of the social strategic framework for the venue
✅ designing, copywriting, creating and managing social assets across Facebook, Instagram feed and Stories
✅ managing all community conversations and engagement from menus to venue bookings and across all reviews on Google My Business, TripAdvisor and Facebook
✅ sponsored ad management including budgeting by campaign or special event
✅ onsite photography across all areas of the venue and Brewery

A true community-centric venue that celebrates social and exceptional entertainment experiences are hard to come by. The amazing Australian Hotel & Brewery is fit with unique indoor and outdoor public bars, a spacious TAB and Sports Lounge, Bistro and alfresco dining areas, and has a variety of function and event spaces.

Don’t forget the best part, an onsite Brewery where you can relish in a true cellar-door experience right in the heart of the Hills District.

All of us are bursting with pride to work with the team at The Australian Hotel & Brewery, and their owners, Redcape Hotel Group.

Need a new car? I do!
MonSTaR Foundation raises money for The STaR Association and Motor Neurone Disease (through Macquarie Neurology and MND Research Institute of Australia). This year, you have the chance to win a Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport Auto valued at $26,990 thanks to support from Terry Shields Toyota. All you have to do is buy a raffle ticket! The draw happens at the MonSTaR Sportsman’s Lunch on Friday 25th October (but you don’t need to be attending the lunch to win). Ticket prices start at $50, and of course discounted when you buy them in packs of 3, 8 or 20. Good luck, and thank you for supporting such a great cause!

It’s all about training.
Love this time of year when businesses get into full swing to upskill their teams. I’ve been busy with a lot of training: a full day of social strategy and sponsored ads for Schwarz Real Estate in Freshwater, a 1/2 day social strategy via Zoom conferencing with Stone Real Estate Mornington; and the Bowral social strategy day attended by Bowral Sweets & TreatsDuncan Hill PropertyDirty Janes Emporium and Arran Farm Cottage. Our last training courses for 2019 are now scheduled, so if you’re up for the last minute upskill, check out our courses, and don’t forget, we offer 1:1 training and coaching as well.

Recycling A KitKat

I’m a little old fashioned when it comes to chocolate. KitKat has been my #1 for over 20 years now, closely followed by a Coconut Rough. So when your fave choccie takes on global waste, I take notice.

Nestlé Japan has announced it’s launching recyclable paper packaging for KitKat, and check this: so you can fold it into origami 😲.

Japan is the biggest market for KitKats – around 4m KitKat Minis are sold across the country every day. That’s some addiction right? But here’s the real kicker. It’s not just about creating new hobbies, the real-world KitKat initiative will help to reduce the brand’s plastic waste 🚮 by approximately 380 tonnes per year. That’s a mountain of rubbish no-one needs.

Until next time 😊 HAVE A BREAK 🍫(there isn’t an emoji for KitKat yet*)
